The Hatfield Flying Club (HFC) is a group operating from Elstree Aerodrome, Hertfordshire. The group's aeroplane is a Piper PA28-180, G-ONET.

The website is designed to give members easy access to club rules and standing orders, news on G-ONET and meetings, and provide a "one stop shop" for internet aviation requirements such as met and NOTAMS.

It is also aims to provide information for prospective members who are considering, or have applied for, membership of HFC.

Check out the blog for latest club news.

Originally, Hatfield Flying Club was formed by employees of De Havilland, the manufacturer of famous types such as the Tiger Moth, Mosquito and Comet, and operated from Hatfield Aerodrome. When De Havilland was incorporated into what is now Bae Systems, the group carried on under its current structure.

HFC operates as a limited company (Hatfield Flying Club Limited, registered in England number 4740466). On joining, members purchase one share for £1, and make a loan to the club of £1,499. Subsequently, a monthly payment of £100 is made by all members, and flying hours are currently charged at £75 per hour. A full scale of flying charge increments can be accessed on the Bookings & Rates page.

All members must hold a current JAA PPL, a Class 2 medical, and have completed at least 100 hours on SEPs. Following a check ride with an HFC approved instructor, members will have access to the group's online booking system, and can then fly G-ONET as they wish, subject to Standing Orders.

The complete club rules can be accessed here.

The group currently has 9 members. Due to the composition of the group, many of the members are free to fly during the week, which means that there is a very good level of availability for G-ONET, without it being booked solid every weekend.

HFC is managed by a committee of members. The committee (with effect from 1st June 2011) is:-

Chairman    Mark Green
Managing Director Peter Clark
Secretary Gino Sabatino
Treasurer Peter Clark
Chief Pilot Alan Woods
Engineering Eddie O'Donnell

The committee meets quarterly, and all members are invited to the group's Annual General Meeting. Officials are elected at the AGM.
